The short version
- Accounts are optional — you can use HabitFlow fully offline.
- If you sign in, your habits back up to a secure cloud database so you can restore them on another device.
- We don't sell your data. We don't run analytics or trackers.
- Ads are shown to keep the app free.
Two ways to use HabitFlow
Local-only. Skip sign-in and everything — habits, check-ins, streaks, notes, badges, and settings — stays on your device only. Nothing about you leaves the phone.
Signed in with Google. You get cloud backup and multi-device sync. See the sections below for exactly what we store and where.
What stays on your device
The following live in a local database on your phone regardless of whether you sign in:
- Your habits (title, emoji, color, cadence, reminder times, description).
- Check-ins, streaks, badges, and streak-freeze usage.
- Missed-day reasons and notes you add.
- App settings (theme, accent, text size, haptics, motivation preferences).
- Your chosen username and, if you set one, your profile avatar image.
Uninstalling the app removes all of the above from the device.
What we store in the cloud (only if you sign in)
Signing in with Google creates an account tied to your Google user ID. We store the following in a secure cloud database so you can restore your data on any device you sign into:
- Account profile — your Google user ID, email address, display name, a chosen username (handle), your device's time zone, and your avatar image (if you upload one).
- Habits — title, emoji, color, cadence, reminder times, target per period, order, archive/delete status, and timestamps.
- Check-ins — the date, source (manual / widget / notification), and any note you added.
- Streak freezes — habit ID and the date the freeze covers.
- Weekly challenges — your progress on in-app challenges.
- Sync bookkeeping — the last time your device pushed or pulled data, and hashes used to skip redundant uploads.
- A push-notification token — a device token used to send you notifications you've opted into (for example, streak-at-risk pings).
We never see your Google password. Sign-in happens through Google's own credential flow.
Ads
HabitFlow shows ads through Google AdMob to keep the app free. AdMob is a third-party service run by Google and may collect an advertising ID and other device signals to serve relevant ads. You can limit ad personalization in your Android Settings under Privacy → Ads.
Third-party services we use
- Google Sign-In — optional account creation.
- Cloud database & storage — hosts your synced data and avatar when signed in.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivers push notifications.
- Google AdMob — serves in-app ads.
- ZenQuotes — anonymous request for the daily motivational quote.
Each service has its own privacy policy. We share only the minimum needed for the feature to work.
Local backups
"Save backup" creates a JSON file you choose where to put. It never touches our servers — it stays wherever you save it.
Your rights & controls
- Sign out at any time from Settings — the app keeps your local data and stops syncing.
- Delete your account from Settings — this wipes your profile, all synced rows, and your stored avatar from the cloud, then clears your device.
- Export your data locally via "Save backup" whenever you want.
Permissions
- Notifications — so reminders and push notifications appear.
- Exact alarms — so habit reminders fire on time.
- Internet — for cloud sync, sign-in, ads, push notifications, and the daily quote.
- Boot — so reminders survive restarts.
You can revoke any of these in Android Settings.
Children
HabitFlow is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, prompt you in the app.
